Sapling, a people-operations (HRIS) platform with a distributed, fully remote workforce across the U.S., Canada, India, and Pakistan, was managing a mix of separate tools for identity and access - including open-source LDAP, Google Cloud Identity, Jamf, Okta, and 1Password. The IT team spent significant time stitching these systems together while needing to secure remote devices and achieve SOC 2 compliance.
The solution
Sapling consolidated onto the JumpCloud cloud directory platform, using it to replace separate LDAP, SSO, and Apple MDM tools. The team adopted JumpCloud MDM to secure its mostly macOS fleet, pre-built Policies for device controls, Directory Insights for auditing, and enforced multi-factor authentication at high-value access points.

The results, in context
Sapling reported that its team once spent more than 60 hours a month on provisioning and onboarding activities, which the company said was exponentially reduced after moving to JumpCloud. The 50-person global team was fully onboarded to JumpCloud within one week, and Sapling described the platform as both more efficient and more cost effective than maintaining separate best-of-breed tools.
