The challenge

Experian, a consumer credit reporting company operating in 44 countries, ran large simultaneous feature releases twice a month at end of day. These 'big bang' releases were stressful and hindered cross-time-zone collaboration. The organization wanted to shift toward smaller, continuous releases throughout the workday.

The solution

Experian adopted Split's feature management and experimentation platform to secure new features behind feature flags and perform controlled rollouts. Engineers could introduce features to a limited user base and experiment with real consumer data without overloading systems.

Split became my culture hack.

The results, in context

Experian increased its release velocity by 50x, with deployment frequency rising from two to 100 releases per month. Feature flags let engineers release confidently by safeguarding individual rollouts, improving both developer efficiency and the end-user experience.
