Case Study: How Axis Bank made its app 76% faster with Redis
Key results
The challenge
Axis Bank's mobile app failed to reflect real-time account changes made by customers offline at bank branches. Its legacy databases could not provide reliable, real-time data visibility, producing customer complaints and poor UX satisfaction across millions of daily users.
The solution
Axis Bank built a Runtime Account Authorization system using Redis as a real-time data platform, with Redis Data Integration, the Redis Query Engine, and pipelining to run concurrent queries across nine tables. High availability was configured with primary-replica failover.
“By leveraging Redis, we have achieved rapid data retrieval, improved performance, elevated user experience and enhanced stability for over 10 million daily users.”

The results, in context
Axis Bank reports 76% faster performance with stable response times during peak load, and cut user wait times from 170 ms to 40 ms. It saved $82,000 by reducing the number of records stored in Redis and achieved 4.25x faster response times compared with retrieving data directly from core banking tables, serving over 10 million daily users.
