The challenge
Before Teleport, Rush Street Interactive faced significant friction managing infrastructure access across a complex multi-cloud environment. SSH key management and VPN access required frequent manual intervention and custom tooling for session recording and firewall rules. The reliance on inbound SSH access and persistent credentials presented risks the security team wanted to eliminate.
The solution
RSI selected Teleport for short-lived SSH and Kubernetes privileges for both human and machine identities, SSO and RBAC to streamline access management, and a reverse-tunnel architecture that eliminates inbound connections and firewall-rule maintenance. Initially deployed self-hosted, RSI later migrated to Teleport Cloud, and also uses Teleport Machine & Workload Identity to authenticate non-human workloads in CI/CD.

The results, in context
Since adopting Teleport, RSI reports access provisioning is 3× faster during employee onboarding and access request handling is 2× faster. Open SSH ports were eliminated via reverse tunnels, reducing attack surface, and privileged access is controlled with short-lived credentials that remove standing privileges. Audit logs and session recordings provide traceability for compliance.
