Case Study: Mysa increased email marketing revenue by 592% with Customer.io
Key results
The challenge
Mysa makes smart high-voltage thermostats sold online to US and Canadian customers, where the purchase decision depends on household voltage and setup compatibility. The company was previously using Klaviyo but wanted to segment audiences more granularly and incorporate customers' product-usage data into its messaging. Compatibility-dependent, higher-consideration purchases made generic email campaigns ineffective.
The solution
Mysa switched to Customer.io to build a more targeted, behavior-driven email strategy. It embedded a Typeform compatibility quiz to qualify leads, offered newsletter opt-ins to qualified visitors, and set up flows to re-engage users unsure whether their household was compatible. It also triggered abandoned-cart sequences through its Shopify integration and sent localized, personalized Black Friday promotions.
The results, in context
After moving to Customer.io, Mysa's email marketing revenue increased over 592%. Among leads who opted in to its newsletters, 19.2% went on to purchase a thermostat, and a dedicated re-engagement flow converted 10.8% of leads who initially marked themselves unsure about compatibility. Its personalized, localization-based Black Friday campaign drove a 3x higher conversion rate than its more general promotion.
