The challenge

Metalsa, a global chassis and siderail manufacturer with a 60-year history, runs a 700,000-square-foot facility in Roanoke, Virginia. Its quality-assurance and IT teams needed faster ways to diagnose issues on the line and investigate incidents in a complex operational environment.

The solution

Working with partner Responsive Technology Partners, Metalsa deployed Rhombus cloud cameras and the Rhombus Console across the plant, including cameras positioned on production robots for preemptive diagnostics.

For every camera we've had on one of the robots, it saves us thousands of dollars each month in terms of diagnosing issues preemptively, catching things before they go wrong, and preventing downtime. And every minute of downtime is money lost in a manufacturing facility.
