The solution

The bank queried Apache Iceberg tables directly with Dremio, using Reflections to accelerate Power BI dashboards and removing Redshift from the workflow.

The results, in context

Dashboard queries ran 10 times faster, with queries that previously took 1 minute 20 seconds now completing in 10-12 seconds. Cost savings were realized immediately through the elimination of Amazon Redshift licensing and infrastructure expenses, and the bank moved a proof of concept to working state in about a week and a half.
