Case Study: Checkout.com scales IaC to 500+ deployments per day with Spacelift
Key results
The challenge
After deciding to apply infrastructure as code across the business, Checkout.com adopted a general-purpose open-source automation server for its Terraform deployments. It was a decent starting mechanism but was not optimized for the scale and reliability the payments platform required.
The solution
Checkout.com moved its Terraform deployments to Spacelift, using its configurability and self-service workflows so that teams could build and deploy services with minimal hand-holding while meeting PCI reliability needs.
“I've got people in my company who have never used Spacelift — in some cases never used IaC — who are configuring Spacelift in less than a day and actually starting to do deployments with no real hand-holding.”

The results, in context
On its busiest single day Checkout.com recorded 926 tracked runs, and 3,200 stacks had runs over a 30-day window. Over a two-month period 100% of support questions were answered in under 10 minutes, and the platform's self-sufficiency supports scaling to over 500 deployments per day.
