Case Study: Anyscale unifies self-serve, enterprise, and marketplace billing on Metronome
Key results
The challenge
As Anyscale expanded from an enterprise-first business to a product-led motion and cloud-marketplace sales, its homegrown billing system could not handle hundreds of self-service trial users or billing across multiple cloud marketplaces. Usage-based contracts and a credits model required manual effort and custom logic that slowed launches.
The solution
Anyscale adopted Metronome as a unified billing platform to manage complex contracts, automate usage-based billing, and integrate directly with AWS, Azure, and GCP marketplaces. Metronome became the single source of truth for billing across self-serve, enterprise, and marketplace channels, with embeddable dashboards for in-product usage and credit tracking.
“Metronome made self-service at Anyscale possible.”

The results, in context
Anyscale launched AWS Marketplace billing in three weeks, followed by Azure and GCP each requiring about a week of Metronome work, cutting launch time by more than half versus a custom build. The company estimates it avoids dedicating three engineers and a billing PM for each rollout and upgrade, freeing those resources for product development.
